Shaminder, 'Eskay' to his friends, did his schooling in St Mary's Academy, Meerut Cantt. Shammi, as he was called at home, was a devoted son to his parents who are no more, and a lovable brother to his four sisters who have many fond memories of him. He was very fond of reading and had a great passion for music and dancing. When in the NDA he took to riding and excelled. He received a blue for riding in IMA, Dehradun where he was shaped to be a proud officer of the Indian Army. Jokingly, it was said that he was found more in the company of horses. He was commissioned into ASC. We lost him on 11th August 1981 in an accident at Kargil.
