Colonel

Ravinder Kumar Popli joined in 1976 along with the rest of us. He was that 'pada likha' type of guy, equivalent to the torch type and hence nicknamed as 'Master'. That name sticks even today. Popli was fluent in the Bengali language, and that was awesome, being a good Punjabi boy. He was commissioned into the Corps of Signals. Had a great career ahead of him which culminated as Cdr 21 Sig Gp. However, for some reason or the other, he quit. The Indian Army lost a good officer and a gentleman. Post-release he took up a job in the telecom sector and rose from heights to heights till he became a much-respected figure in his field. A good man at heart, he had tremendous wit and just wanted to help people. He, therefore, facilitated many armed forces guys to find their way into the telecom industry. God takes the best of us, and he passed away on 22 Nov 2017 due to lung cancer.

He is survived by his lady wife, Sarita who stays at Sispal Vihar, Gurgaon. Their son, an engineer by profession, recently married to Ritu, has relocated to Gurgaon to take care of his Mom. Their daughter, Ritika, is presently in the US pursuing a PhD.

🙏May his soul rest in peace🙏
